Life With Boys
Recommend us to the Parenting Tumblr Directory.

I think this is a repeat, but Hayden will be joining us for the QOTD!  He is learning to read and identify his letters with more confidence in first grade, and he asked to be a part of the family blog last night.  So, I let him pick the animal.

I think I would still go with my original answer-a megalodon.  This is a giant, prehistoric shark.  Estimates taken from teeth put this predator at around 67 feet!  (though I think that is one of the biggest on record, so that might be a max) But when i think of a shark I think of a fierce predator, something that will defend what belongs to it with everything it has.  Something I imagine all parents can identify with.

what are you thinking about?

It’s early morning, the sun is just coming up, maybe I can see some dolphins in the distance.  There is a nice, warm breeze coming off the water, my hair is blowing around my face, and the sand is warm on my toes.  The one thing going through my mind is…”I have a great life.”

or just any movie line that sticks out in your head.  I have a few, though two of them have curse words in them..does that say something about me?

“Get Away From her you B$%#H!” Aliens (I mean seriously, how could anyone NOT like it when Sigourney Weaver utters that line from the robot thing she drives as she fights the queen.

“Yippee Ki Yay, Mother F-er” I thought Bruce Willis says this in Die Hard, and maybe he does, but for some reason I just think it is hilarious when Hans Gruber says it to Bruce’s John McClane.

“Peace isn’t merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice.” Harrison Ford’s President James Marshall in Air Force One.  (Yeah, I know silly movie…but what a great line!)

Hmm…no clue!  This is courtesy of Corey by the way.  I was drawing a blank, he was acting silly and I thought..why not?

As far as men go….probably Jason Statham or Bruce Willis, just because I am a fan.

Women-maybe Sigourney Weaver is someone I really like as an actress, and she just seems cool.

I think it would have to be a dual stalking…I would stand behind them and have someone take pictures of me, on the other hand…I am just too lazy to actually stalk someone, just way too much work!

I would love to say I would be a trapeze artist.  They look so pretty flying through the air.  OR, and I have only seen this on TV, the women that actually perform with the long silk panels.  They wrap themselves up in them and twist, spin and turn.  BUT, I have a slight fear of heights.  Not sure what the deal is because I could ride a roller coaster all day, but heights freak me out sometime.

Sooo…maybe I would be the ringmaster.  Speaking in front of crowds doesn’t bother me, and lord knows I’m loud!

This is actually a pretty serious discussion in our house.  As I have mentioned in the past, I am a huge fan of horror movies, ghosts included.  Growing up I loved books written about haunted buildings, towns, cemetaries, etc.  As I got older that interest didn’t abate, I still find the idea of a restless soul intriguing.

I will go on record and say, I absolutely believe that ghosts exist.  I don’t think they fly around in white sheets saying, “BOO!” But I believe that you leave something behind when you die, and when your loved ones need you, you will find a way to be there for them.

And should someone die a violent death, why would they simply fade away?  Especially if they died with regret.

So, yeah, I totally believe in ghosts.

Pretend you are meeting someone for the first time…maybe someone from a different country or even an alien.  They want your recommendation for a good movie.  What do you recommend?

Really tough one… for fun I would recommend Friday the 13th (parts 1-7 are cool with me) or Nightmare on Elm Street.  They are some of the best slashers out there.

But for laughs… probably, “The Wedding Singer.”  Not sure why I love that movie.  The story isn’t particularly original, but the 80’s were such a fun, indulgent time, and this movie has the right amount of snarkiness, while still respecting the music of that decade.  Plus Adam Sandler’s hair was just too funny.

That’s a tough one for me….I suppose I figure if I am too scared to try it, why bother imagining it!  But perhaps skydiving would be on my list.  I know Roy really wants to give it a shot, I have even looked into getting him a jump for a gift, but airplanes are NOT my friends, and jumping out of one is beyond scary for me, I don’t even want to watch Roy do it!

Something else, though this is on a baser level, is trying to do something with my writings.  I have three or four novels started, two of them have a lot of work put into them, but I am hesitant to show anyone but those in my family.  A part of me believes they enjoy it so much because they know and love me.  I just don’t have enough confidence in myself to believe what they tell me and try to do something with my “talent for words.”

hmm…driving 12 hours to get to Georgia rocked!  Oh wait, driving through downtown Richmond with a migraine, three whiny kids and two dogs was awesome…

But seriously, it actually wasn’t that bad…but fun, nope!

BUT, we did go to Busch Gardens for the weekend.  Rode the Griffon Roller Coaster, LOTS of fun!  Ate some good food!  Got to cuddle with my husband in the tent…

Since it’s the first day of school, I thought I would ask this to see if the kids actually learned anything today.  I know I did!

Roy showed me how to use a site called Plummelo.  I have tons of recipes from magazines I have collected over the years, and this site can keep them all organized for me, and I can finally pass the magazines on to someone else.
