In the past 24 hours, we have had two milestones in our house. Both make us so very proud of the two younger boys, but at the same time, it brings a bit of sadness along with it.
Today Hayden graduated from first grade. Today he is officially a second grader! Which made Roy ask why they have to go to school for the next three days. We went to the awards assembly at Hayden’s school (Hayden got the Star Stallion award, the Math award, and the Improvement award!), and afterwards we checked him out of school and had a nice picnic at the park with the two younger boys.
This second milestone is somewhat silly, but it still made me just a tiny bit sad. As I have mentioned here in the past, Dean LOVES Iron Man. LOVES Iron Man. I truly think we have two complete sets of all the action figures out there. We have costumes, masks, those arm things that shoot the rays. We have movies, books, and clothing. We even have Iron Man underwear. Did I mention that Dean LOVES Iron Man? Funny thing was though, for months he has always called him, “Man Now.” I think he originally said it that way to tell his brothers that he wanted to watch (Iron) “Man, Now!” But yesterday, I was reading a book to him, and he pointed to a picture and said:
“Mama, Iron Man.” He said it a few more times before I really caught on, and then I pointed it out to Roy.
“Oh, well! Our baby’s growing up.”
They are, aren’t they?
