Ok, with five boys of five different ages, and temperaments things can get nasty in my house real quick! I try to remind the boys that in the end family will ALWAYS be there, blood is thicker than water and all that mumbo jumbo, but it’s the truth. When I was 17 and thought the world was against me, I remember railing at my dad one day, cursing and fussing up a storm. He told me to shut up and listen to him, “I’m your father, and come hell or highwater I love you. So you need to calm down and remember for now and always, I’m the best friend you got.” That was uncharacteristic of my dad, to lay that out there, but he was right. You can always count on family, once in awhile you might make a friend like that, but sadly that doesn’t happen often. So, anyways, I think once in awhile we should do a niceness post, something where everyone can remember something nice someone did for them. Here’s mine:
R-he went out of his way to make my 36th birthday something special. I didn’t ask him to, I didn’t have to remind him, he just did it. AND he is taking some time out of his day to design my tattoo!
C-Making dinner for six hungry guys, not to mention myself, can get hectic. He knew that and decided, without being asked to jump in and made some biscuits last night. AND they didn’t collapse, and were really tasty.
J-Like the last time I posted, one thing I really like about J is that he talks to me. He doesn’t edit himself because he is talking to his mom, though he is always respectful, but he lets me into his life and world, and I appreciate that.
A-Aside from my special birthday text, which I kept and love! He has taken to carrying down H’s school clothes in the morning. It’s just a little thing, but it saves me a trip upstairs, and I really appreciate anything that helps mornings move faster.
H-He told me a few weeks ago, that he likes school and that he wouldn’t pretend to be sick anymore in the mornings to try and stay home. Sometimes he is still a little sleepyhead and I have to push him, but he has kept his promise to me and not had a temper tantrum in the mornings.
D-He saw a scratch on my hand, and crawled in my lap, asked me if I was ok and gave my hand a kiss. Then he offered me this huge, nasty green booger that he pulled out of his nose. Can’t get any better than that!
