for the younger boys…do you think there are some things about people that just can’t be helped-like they are evil, gay, ignorant? OR do you think it’s because of the way they were raised?
I was looking around, and saw this on Plinky the other day, and this has always been something that intrigued me. I believe that some people are born bad….I know, it’s horrible to think that a young child is evil, but if you read about some of the worst among us they all started showing signs of aggression and hostility when they were younger, and no not the normal kind of high school evil. (courtesy of Jennifer’s Body there…) I suppose you could make a case for nurture, they were abused, ignored, etc…but in a number of cases siblings were raised in the same house and they went on to become productive members of society.
I think people use this argument when talking about gays and lesbians…since I don’t think this is something to be ashamed of…who cares? But again same thing….if one child is gay and two are straight…how can people simply write it off as “Oh, that’s how they were raised?’
Now, ignorance is another story. I think kids need to be given the opportunity to explore what they are learning n school and seeing in the world around them. If they have parents that don’t understand their school work, aren’t interested in the world around them, that child’s love of learning doesn’t blossom and grow. I think ignorant isn’t necessarily just stupid, I consider someone that is ignorant uneducated. Neither R nor I have college degrees, but I believe we are intelligent human beings…why? Because we make it a point to be.
