Life with Boys
Follow me! You know you want to.

This comes courtesy of Plinky (well, inspired by as it is adjusted a bit).  Just too tired today….

I can think of a few things.

-When R and I were first dating he took the two older boys and I to Washington DC.  We spent the day looking around the museums, and about 4 or so started looking for someplace to eat.  We ended up walking to Planet Hollywood.  We had to cross a busy street, and R picked J up-he was probably about 2 1/2 at the time.  C and I ran across first, and when I looked back I saw J holding on to R’s shirt, and the two of them were laughing about something.  When they got to the other side of the street, R put J down and walked in front of me.  C walked up and took his hand, and the two of them walked in front of us.  It was the first time I got to see the four of us as a family.

-The first time R held A after he was born.  A was born early, and we thought we had more time…we weren’t ready for him.  We hadn’t picked up the crib yet, didn’t have many clothes, we didnt’ even have a car seat!  But the first time R held A, he was so proud.  A was so tiny, he fit in one of his father’s hands.  We were both exhausted, but I don’t think I ever saw him stop smiling.

-I can say the same about H and D’s births as well.  Even after five kids, I don’t think the wonder ever stops of seeing your baby for the first time, holding them for that first time…

-The boys play sports, and I try to get everyone to go to at least one game or meet…We were at one of J’s basketball games, and H was about 3.  I was heavily pregnant with D, so usually R and C took turns holding H or having him sit next to them.  I turned around one time, and H was sitting on C’s lap.  They were whispering to each other and giggling.  It was just the two of them in their own little world.  With five boys the house can get crazy…add the two dogs into the mix and things get taken up a notch, so whenever I see something like that it really tugs at my heart and I remember it.
