This could come from literature, the movies, Tv, comics…whatever you can imagine.
For me, for the most part,if I don’t like a character, I just don’t like them. BUT…
T-Bag from Prison Break. Played deliciously by Robert Knepper. The man was slimy! Period….and creepy, and dirty, and evil. But Knepper captured something and every once in awhile we caught a glimpse of humanity.
I liked Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator. He was so insecure that he let that feeling of inadequacy rule his life and he paid the ultimate price in the end.
But most of the ‘characters I love to hate’ come from my soap opera. They are written so over the top, that you just have to laugh. Tracy Quartermaine, played by Jane Eliot is one of my favorites. She can be so nasty, but she truly cares for her family, and every once in awhile she will cut loose and have a good time, she is just fun to watch.
Carly Corinthos Jax, played right now by Laura Wright (she is my favorite actress on the soap by the way, and she is the fourth to play the character) is another. At the beginning she was truly just a brat! She came back to PC (Port Charles) with an agenda, and she ruined some lives. But the writers have actually done a decent job of letting the character grow and mature.
