This one comes courtesy of C.  I am beat today, LONG weekend…and didn’t feel like thinking.  Besides, I think I will let one of the boys come up with a question once in awhile.  C originally wanted me to ask what everyone’s favorite Grimm’s fairy tale was, but I am not sure if some of the younger boys even know what they are, and let’s face it they are pretty gruesome! Or rather, some of them are.

I will try to answer both, truth be told I read some of the Grimm’s fairy tales back in high school, and let’s face it that was quite a while ago.

My favorite fairy tale is Sleeping Beauty.  I admit, I love the sanitized Disney version.  The lovely colors, the hero (the prince) rescuing the princess, and let’s not forget the music.  The Brother’s Grimm version is horrific, so much so I won’t even go into it here.

The Little Mermaid-Hans Christian Anderson sanitized it a bit.  In the original, it was the same story more or less as the Disney version, but at the end the Little Mermaid was given a knife in which to kill the prince, thereby giving her back her tail, she couldn’t do it and instead she took her own life!  Horrible, I know!  Give me singing crabs and fish anyday.

Beauty and Beast-Just love it!  Love the moral of the story.
