Ask my husband about my love of magazines…go ahead, ask him. I bet he will say that I am ridiculous. I spend a lot, I love to read them, but cooking magazines are my favorite. I was seriously jazzed when I found out Food Network was coming out with a magazine, and every month I grab it as soon as it hits the stands.
We were at Costco a few weeks ago and I ran across one from Taste of Home… called Busy Families. With five boys, obviously I am busy, so I grabbed it (to his credit my husband has given up and says nothing when I add a magazine or two [ok, maybe sometimes three if I want to push my luck] to our over flowing cart). Well, I got home and immediately dove into my new magazine. Happily there were quite a few recipes that would work for our family. I made one already, “Brief Burritos”, and I am happy to say it was pretty tasty. BUT, best of all it was QUICK and cheap! So, inspired by the movie Julie and Julia (LOVED that movie… so cute!) I have made up my mind to make every single recipe in that magazine that I think would appeal to my family, and along the way I might throw in a few recipes that might be ‘outside their comfort zone a bit.’ I want to see if the recipes really live up to their name and will work for a busy family.
I am making “Beef Ragu Sauce with Ravioli” right now… will report tomorrow!
