Here we go...
getting ready to leave for a week!  Tomorrow, we will be leaving and hitting the road to go visit family in Georgia! Got to admit, I am looking forward to seeing my in-laws (I know…weird huh?!), whom I adore, but not looking forward to the drive!  My back has been killing me the last week or so, and now that I am finally working out the stiffness and the kinks, a 10-12 hour drive is so not...

Geocaching!
For some of us this is a fairly new term.  Basically what GeoCaching is,is this: You use a small portable, GPS device to find the hidden location of Geocaches.  Which are just basically small containers with little trinkets in them, and a small notebook and pen to write down that you found the hiding place. R downloaded an app for his iPhone, and I was surprised to discover there are a number of...

Ok, I have to ask... should I be offended?
R put up that cool spinning thing with books the boys like, but hello!  I like to read too! Unfortunately, I do not know how to create a cool spinning thing, so I will just write mine out. I just finished a book “Unhallowed Ground” by Heather Graham and it was fun.  It had a supernatural twist to it, some romance, mystery and of course some bodies!  The ending wrapper up a little too...

Books the younger boys like...
Here are a few books the younger boys (A, H, and D) like and even C and J liked a few when they were younger… Amazon.com Widgets

Q#64: What is your biggest regret?
I think that for me I have to say I don’t have a lot of regrets.  I think had I made different decisions in my life, things might have been easier, but then I might not be here with R and the boys.  I am who I am because of the choices I made, good or bad, right or wrong. But I do regret, not knowing my mom better.  I had lunch with her the other day and she was funny, and she laughed.  She...

Q#63: Which TV family do you love?
Or see yourself in. For me, when I was younger, I loved Family Ties and The Cosby Show.  I still watch reruns of The Cosby Show with D and sometimes R and A, and now I see myself in Claire and Cliff’s approach to raising their kids.  Family Ties was just a cool show, and Michael J Fox was so funny! More recently, My Wife and Kids with Damon Wayans and Tisha Campbell-Martin.  They were...

I will second that...
Roy and I are digging Kick Buttowski too.  It has a kind of retro cartoon feel to it, and the voices just make us giggle for some reason. D LOVES “Olivia!”  Loves it, loves it, I just wish they would have some new episodes.  I think we have seen every one about six times! We bought Planet 51 today, and I know H and D are hoping to get The Princess and the Frog here soon. I really...

Q#62: What is something that is guaranteed to make...
I admit it, I cry at the drop of a hat at certain times of the month (ladies you know what I mean), but there are a few things that are guaranteed to get to me: I just read a book by Kristin Hannah called “Winter Garden.”  It details the sacrifices a mother made for her family, and in this book they were extreme.  As a mother reading something like this, makes you wonder how far you...

Q#61: What are three things you do everyday no...
I am sure the kids will pick the obvious-eat, sleep, go to the bathroom, things of that ilk.  Let’s see if they can come up with more thought provoking answers.  As for me: 1) Shower or bathe-I know…some might think, yeah, so?  Don’t most people?  To which I will say, living with six males…no, many people don’t.  But me, I have my routine, and NOTHING is going to...

Q#60: The niceness post...
Ok, with five boys of five different ages, and temperaments things can get nasty in my house real quick!  I try to remind the boys that in the end family will ALWAYS be there, blood is thicker than water and all that mumbo jumbo, but it’s the truth.  When I was 17 and thought the world was against me, I remember railing at my dad one day, cursing and fussing up a storm.  He told me to shut...

My stress level
I put vent in the tag box, but I don’t think this is really a vent.  If you read my posts, you know last week I had a serious scare, and was told I need to learn to relax or I risk something more serious happening to me and possibly my heart.  I have to say, that is easier said than done! What is funny to me is when people hear I have five boys, ranging in age from almost 16 to 2, they...

Q#59: What is the worst thing about Mondays?
I know some people hate Mondays, me I don’t really care.  I just can’t seem to sleep past 7:30 anyways, so to me Mondays is just like any other day as far as me getting up early. I will say the rushing around to get the kids ready and out the door is no fun.  At least on Tuesday-Friday, they know it’s time to get up and out the door for school, but Monday’s they all seem...

My Birthday!
Today is my birthday!  Happy Birthday to me!  I am 36 years old.  I have to say I have never understood why women lie about their age.  I suppose it could have something to do with where I am in my life.  So let me tell ya… A few days ago, I had horrible chest pain.  Pain that did not go away and did not get any better with rest and medication.  It was so bad I was afraid I was having a...

Q#58: Make your own video game!
A posed this question to me the other day.  Actually he said if I could make my own game system what would it be and what would I call it, but that is just too much for me.  R can pick them out, and I will write the check, or so we joke. BUT, if I could make my own video game, I would do some sort of cooking time management game.  I like bigfishgames.com.  Every day I go there to see what the...

Q#57: What is your favorite movie line ever?
This question and response is being posted by Corey, so I will respond in one of the drop downs below. What is your most favorite movie line? I know, a little weak, but I do not usually do the question’s of the day so bear with me. As anyone who knows me will tell you, I love the Aliens franchise. I really dig how Ripley starts out kind of whiney in the beginning of the first three...

Q#56: What does your town need?
Pretend you are a developer, what do you think your town needs? We live in a relatively small town about 60 miles south of Washington DC.  We aren’t too far from three larger cities, and those three cities have everything we need, but sometimes I don’t want to drive 45 minutes to get to Costco. So, as you can see if we had a Costco I would be good to go and would rarely have to leave...

Q#55: Cast a spell...what would it be?
No, we aren’t witches or into the occult (though I do like horror movies), we aren’t even freakish harry Potter fans.  A, H and even little D like the TV show “Wizards of Waverly Place.”  Truth be told, I think A just likes Selena Gomez the main character.  Anyways, A suggested the question of the day be: If you could make any spell what would it be.  I would probably come...

Q#54: Which is cooler- Ninjas or Pirates?
Courtesy of “C” here. Not sure what he was watching that made him ask this, but hey this is supposed to be a family blog sooooo…. I would have to say Ninjas are cooler.  Pirates have bad teeth, which means more than likely they have stanky breath too.  Their hair does have that tousled, saltwater look, but that simply can not make up for the bad teeth and hygiene.  Plus all that...

Q#53: If there were 26 hours in a day, what would...
I would like to say that I would get some more sleep, but in reality I should probably clean the house more! I am ok on five or six hours of sleep, seven is about perfect for me, but I can deal with five or six hours, so IF I had two extra hours a day I would like to stay up later than the little kids, or ideally get up earlier than they do and clean the house.  There are toys everywhere, and...

Q#52: What is your dream job?
Or what do you want to be when you grow up? I think I am lucky…I have the choice to stay home with the boys, because of R’s hard work.  So, I have to say for the most part I have my dream job.  Though, I wish I was a bit more organized.  Staying on top of everything-homework, afterschool activities, housework, etc is tough for me.  Well, to clarify some days it is, and some it...

Q#51: Name something nice that your family has...
for you in the last 2 days?  EACH family member, which means each person should have six other people, for all you lazy bones out there…. R-NOTHING!  Just kidding, I think the sweetest things he does for me are things he doesn’t even realize he is doing.  Sometimes at night I get up to go to the bathroom (graphic I know) and when I come back to bed I am cold.  I will scoot up against...
