Q#28: Share something magical you saw or have seen
This comes courtesy of Plinky (well, inspired by as it is adjusted a bit). Just too tired today….
I can think of a few things.
-When R and I were first dating he took the two older boys and I to Washington DC. We spent the day looking around the museums, and about 4 or so started looking for someplace to eat. We ended up walking to Planet Hollywood. We had to cross a busy street, and R...

Q#27: What Superpower would you like to have?
My kids love this question. I think C asks us all this at least once a week. So, let’s put it out there and see what everyone says.
I would like the ability to clone myself, and then when the job was done I could just absorb my other selves. Like the t-1000 in T2. When the work was done, my clones would just sort of melt into a pile of liquid whatever that stuff was and slurp right on...

Q#26: Is it more important to follow your heart or...
I was looking for a way to phrase the question, but here is the quick backstory. I am watching the movie, The Express: The Ernie Davis Story, right now. Good movie! it’s about Ernest Davis the first African American to win the Heisman Trophy. It is heartbreaking to me to see some of the things the three young African Americans on Syracuse’s football went through simply because they...

Q#25: You wake up in the morning....
look out your window and see a bunch of snow on the ground. School is canceled, work is closed, what do you do?
My first thought is going to be how to take my new little puppy out! If there is a bunch of snow on the ground, it would just swallow him up. So, I guess I would put on his little coat and take him out in the garage. After that, since it is a snow day and everyone is home…I...

Q#24: What are some of life's most important...
Another question I think will have different viewpoints based on your age. A few of my favorite:
Courtesy of my Dad: Drive like everyone else on the road is an idiot. This has served me well in almost 20 years of driving. I have never caused an accident, though a friend and I were rear ended once, and I have gotten a few speeding tickets, but I think remembering that I am not the only one on...

Q#23: Do you believe in soul mates?
I thought this question might be interesting seeing as some of the boys aren’t really at that stage where they are even interested in love or relationships. I am curious to see how they view love, long term relationships and marriage.
When I met my husband I was young, but jaded. My first marriage didn’t work out, and I didn’t think I deserved to be loved. R showed me...

Q#22: Which would you rather give up and why?
The Internet or TV? For one month you have to pick which one to give up…which one and why?
I am sure everyone else will say TV, since you can watch a lot of shows on the internet…but we have a HUGE TV, and I am sorry, I am not giving up watching my shows in HD for checking my email. People want to get in touch with me they can use snail mail or pick up a phone. I am NOT giving up...

Q#21: Who is your favorite Character...
Let’s pick one from Literature, TV and a movie.
Book-Jack West Jr and his motley crew. West is author Matthew Reilly’s creation, and I will be honest, they aren’t works for literary genius, but they are so much fun! I bought the latest in the series, 5 Greatest Warriors, and read it in about four hours. The action is non-stop, the characters have realistic qualities (even if...

Q#20: What character do you love to hate?
This could come from literature, the movies, Tv, comics…whatever you can imagine.
For me, for the most part,if I don’t like a character, I just don’t like them. BUT…
T-Bag from Prison Break. Played deliciously by Robert Knepper. The man was slimy! Period….and creepy, and dirty, and evil. But Knepper captured something and every once in awhile we caught a glimpse...

January 22, 2010
As you can see, there was no question of the day yesterday, but I had a good reason! A few days before the Christmas break, R and I made the tough decision to put our little Dachshund, Missy, to sleep. She was an older dog and had a good life, but she was having serious health issues and it got to the point where medication would just be to help her deal with the pain, but would not have added...

Q#19: Give money to charity...
with all that is going on in Haiti, I am curious if you had the money, what charities would you support?
I gave a little bit to the Red Cross for the victims in Haiti…but I wonder what good $20 does? Does it do any good? If I had the resources, I wish I could do more. Same thing when HUrricane Katrina devastated New Orleans. We gave what we could to the Red Cross, but whatever we give always...

Dinner, January 18, 2010
Well, we went back to our experiment and this time C cooked dinner as we had to run and pick up J. He made Apricot Beef Stir Fry. We doubled the recipe, of course! I spent about $19.00 on ingredients or about $2.38 per serving. Still not bad, though more on that later.
C LOVES to cook, but is new to working with some of the appliances, or is unfamiliar with the one we have as he has only used...

Q#18: What is your can't miss TV?
I think NBC coined that phrase back when Friends was in its heyday. Back then, I didn’t miss an episode of the show. I think I even watched reruns…so, what’s your “can’t miss TV” right now?
Honestly, I admit it I have a few:
Sons of Anarchy-I think they do a 13 episode series, which is nice, they show it right through for the most part, but it starts in...

Q#17: What is your favorite Fairy Tale?
This one comes courtesy of C. I am beat today, LONG weekend…and didn’t feel like thinking. Besides, I think I will let one of the boys come up with a question once in awhile. C originally wanted me to ask what everyone’s favorite Grimm’s fairy tale was, but I am not sure if some of the younger boys even know what they are, and let’s face it they are pretty...

Q#16: What are three of your fondest memories?
Being a mother, I could cop out and say the birth of my children, and while each one of those is a dear memory, I didn’t want to put a standard answer here. I also, have an amazing husband, and marrying him was one of the best days of my life! So, I guess these memories would be my numbers 7-9 as far as tops go! 1) The day R proposed to me-I was never one of those girls that had my wedding...

Dinner
I do want to say my husband shamed me….here I am lusting after purses and shoes, and he is so sweet to say the boys and I are his status symbols. What a guy! Seriously, I married quite a man…a damn good man!
I am also ashamed to say that my experiment is not moving along quite as nicely as I had hoped. The 15th was J’s birthday, and on their birthday they get to...

Q#15: You want a Status Symbol....
What is it? I know, I know..we aren’t supposed to be concerned with material possessions. Coveting designer clothes or accessories is shallow, and maybe it is…but once in awhile I say, so what?! Have some fun. So, what are those ‘status symbol’ accessories that you drool over.
1) Michael Kors purses-LOVE THEM! No ifs, ands or buts about it! (R is sitting next to me and...

Q#14: What is something that always makes you...
Honestly, for me the only given is hearing my kids laugh. Especially, when I see the boys playing with R. Even if I am annoyed at the world, seeing them playing and laughing with their Dad will always make me, at the very least, crack a smile.
Long day today so this post is short, but let me assure my husband and my boys that I will think long and hard tonight and come up with a really good one...

Q#13: Biggest Pet Peeve (and our dinner last...
Question of the day: What is your biggest Pet Peeve?
Mine: ignorance! I am not talking about someone that is unfamiliar with a certain subject or unsure of how to approach a situation, that happens to all. I am just talking about plain old stupidity. Ya know..if I pay for a large drink, I want a large drink! Don’t tell me “Well, yeah, you paid for a large drink and then try to...

Q#12: Name a Sacrifice you made happily...
Let me first ‘thank’ Elizabeth Gilbert for opening her mouth on the Oprah Show the other day. (Can you tell I didn’t really like what she had to say?) She believes that if a woman chooses to stay home and be a wife and a mother she is sacrificing her life. Or perhaps she polled all wives out there and i just missed my turn in line…either way, what a load of crock! So my...

Dinner Last Night
I forgot to explain…I usually try to cook two days, then take a day off so that we can eat leftovers, etc. Last night was an off day…but the Taco Casserole from Monday night tasted better warmed up!

Q#11: Your Bucket List...
We watched this movie, The Bucket List, with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson…cute movie. So what are five things on YOUR list?
1) Finish my book….though I have started writing three different ones, I want to complete one. Even if no one but my family ever reads it, I want to write an entire manuscript.
2) Get on a plane with my husband and simply look forward to our destination. ...

Q#10: What is the perfect way to end the day?
Since yesterday we asked about starting the day, today let’s find out what a good way to end the day is.
For me it would be having NO dishes in the sink after dinner. I would plop on the couch and watch one of my silly shows with “R” and the kids. Getting the three little ones in bed by 9 pm would be perfect and then “R” and I could retire to our room. After...

Review: Taco Casserole
Still from Taste of Home’s: Busy Family recipes. I will break down the cost first. This recipe originally served 7, but I still doubled it thinking it would make a quick dinner for the next night for some. I spent $19 dollars on ingredients-so about $1.36 per serving. Pretty reasonable.
I am not sure if it was D being so fussy, as two year olds are prone to be when they are hungry, or I...

Q#9: What is your perfect way to start the day?
Without being too graphic as my kids read this, I will just say this: Waking up at my own leisure as opposed to a honking alarm clock or a screaming child. Showering R with kisses until he gives me that sleepy smile of his, and then just hanging out for a bit in bed with my husband. Afterwards, we get up together, get dressed and go down to face the hoard! I am a breakfast person, so I want a...

Results-Beef Ragu with Ravioli
I doubled the recipe, so let me say that first. Most of the recipes in this book are for four servings, and that just won’t cut it in my family. Depending on what it is, I double them, even triple them if it is something I have made before and I know works for us.
This recipe doubled has about 10 servings actually. I paid about $23 for all the ingredients or about $2.30 a serving. Not...

Twinks Recipe by - CHOW →
Who doesn’t love a good Twinkie™? Well, not everyone loves them. But we decided to make this version of them tonight. We have yet to fill them with the cream, but the cake is pretty good. Not quite the same taste as the Twinkies™ of yore, but good nonetheless.

My experiment with food....
Ask my husband about my love of magazines…go ahead, ask him. I bet he will say that I am ridiculous. I spend a lot, I love to read them, but cooking magazines are my favorite. I was seriously jazzed when I found out Food Network was coming out with a magazine, and every month I grab it as soon as it hits the stands.
We were at Costco a few weeks ago and I ran across one from Taste of...

Q#8: You won an all expenses paid vacation...
Where do you go and who do you take? What do you do?
That’s an easy one for me…..I am taking the family to DISNEYWORLD! LOVE that place, and yes, it IS the happiest place on earth.
We would stay at the Treehouse Villas at the Sarasota Springs Resort. Of course, “R” and I would have our own room! We would stay at LEAST seven days, and each day we would eat at one of...

Q#7: Where do you like to window shop?
I am tired this morning, and since I know I will be up late tonight, I went to Plinky. This question is courtesy of them.
In ‘real’ life I LOVE to window shop at Sephora. I am not a big makeup person, even for nice occasions I rarely do more than a bit of blush, lip gloss and mascara, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE lotion, body wash and things of that ilk. I am also (overly?) concerned...

Q#6: What is your most unattractive quality?
I suppose you could approach this question in two way. Physically and mentally/emotionally. I want to focus on the second one.
My temper is something I think is unattractive. I am quick to anger, and depending on the situation, I can be very unforgiving. My temper shows up as impatience, sarcasm, and impossible standards that no one can live up to. And, inevitably, when someone disappoints...

Q#5: What is one thing you are trying to give up?
To clarify for my husband and kids. Something you don’t need as much of, or is bad for you that you are trying to cut down on.
I have two things specifically:
1) Eating out so much-I actually think we are on our way to this. My husband was off for a few weeks this holiday, and normally he and I would run out and eat without thinking about it, but we didn’t do that. In fact, we...

Q#4: What three things would you take with you...
if you had to leave your house in a hurry? I am talking about material things, as let’s say all your family members get out of the house just fine. And you are to assume all remaining items may potentially be destroyed.
1)My Purse-didn’t even have to think about this one! Not only is it one I LOVE! ( a large, Kelly Green, Michael Kors tote….GORGEOUS!) but it has everything I...

Q#3: What are you looking forward to?
I look forward to a lot of things! Right now, I am looking forward to some of my favorite shows returning with new episodes after the break they took during the holidays. “The Good Wife” a GREAT dramatic show! I was never a huge Julianna Margulies fan when she was on “ER” but I love this show. My 10 year old really likes that show “The Forgotten” so we DVR...

Q#2: What can't you say No to?
My kids… especially my youngest two. My husband made a good point a few weeks ago. When we were first married things were tight. We were a young couple just starting out, our fixer upper home needed some work, and we didn’t have a lot of money to spoil the kids with. Now that we are older and my husband is a bit more settled in his career we have a bit more wiggle room, and we like being able...

New Year, New Blog! And Q#1.
I always have good intentions when it comes to my blogging. I mean, we can’t be the only family out there with six kids! My husband and I have five boys that live with us, and I have a stepdaughter that comes to visit as often as she can. Six kids, a dog (more on that in a bit), a big fish tank, a lizard….are we alone in this world? When you have a big family EVERYTHING requires a...
