Cuisine at Home - Preview issue
I got this in the mail a few weeks ago.  On the cover it says that since I am a cooking enthusiast I was chosen to receive this preview issue.  Since I love cooking magazines, Simple and Delicious from Taste of Home is my favorite, and Everyday with Rachael Ray isn’t far behind, I was thrilled to check out this new magazine. Their big claim is NO ADS, and while that is true, there are A LOT of...

More Real Simple - May 2009
One thing this magazine does that I always enjoy reading is they rate and compare products.  This month they did dishwasher detergent, fruit juice and budget makeup.  Here is what they have to say: Dishwasher Detergent-they break it down into three categories.  Best Powder-Cascade Complete.  Not a huge fan of this brand.  I have been trying to use more eco-friendly cleaning products, so I have...

Real Simple - May 2009
I really like this magazine.  It has a simple format that they rarely deviate from.  Though I do joke with my sister that living “Realy Simply” apparently costs money.  Usually, they will do some sort of feature like…the best jeans for your body.  AWESOME!  We all wear jeans right…apparently every body needs $200 dollars jeans.  But this issue surprised me.  Sure there were some $400 dresses, but...

Parents - May 2009
I enjoy parenting magazines, though i admit I at times find them funny.  They ask for ‘expert’ parenting advice from someone with ONE 2 month old, or someone with multiple children has two…..where is the woman or man with four grown children?  THAT is who I want to hear from, I mentioned Betty and ERic Hayes…they have 10 children and seem to keep things together, where are families like them?  I...

Good Housekeeping - May 2009
As I mentioned in my previous post, this month’s issue has some good articles, or rather in my previous post I wrote about an article I enjoyed.  Here are some more tips Good Housekeeping shared with us this month, some good, some….well, here they are: “The Four Greatest Haircuts of All Time”-I have had all four of these at one time or another in my life, and I agree wholeheartedly with their...

WHY, OH WHY...
Why, oh why… do I get sucked in?  I am talking about reality shows here.  Admittedly, my favorite “reality’ show is So You Think You Can Dance.  I put reality in the quotes because I don’t really put a show like that on the same level as some of the other garbage out there.  SYTYCD is more a talent show, but I LOVE it don’t miss an episode.  American Idol… though I watch it, I am over...

Tips from the mom of ten!
As I mentioned in one of my previous posts…I love magazines.  Every so often, I will find an article that really speaks to me.  It might be about keeping a clean kitchen (yes, it speaks to me, but I don’t have much luck with this!) a new recipe (I rip it out and add it to my drawer…I now have about 200+ thinks I need to make for my family), fashion-maybe a purse or some shoes I want to check out,...

My New Obsession....
My husband is a patient man..I mean for the most part.  Every few months I fixate on something, and I just WANT it.  I turned 35 this year, and I wanted a new purse.  The past few purses I have bought were Vera Bradley.  Nothing wrong with them…cute styles, great colors, but they don’t last because they are fabric.  So this year I wanted something nice…leather, soft as my baby’s butt, sexy color. ...

HAPPY EARTH DAY!!
It’s earth day!  A day for us to think about the impact we have on the planet on which we live.  The past year or so, I have strived to make efforts to become more ‘green.’  I admit that my efforts are often not consistent.  With five boys, two of them teenagers, it isn’t easy being green.  Five boys equals lots of smells, and sorry, but they need to shower.  I am also not of the whole “if it’s...
